La resistenza di un villaggio di montagna minacciato dall’industria mineraria
Un inverno nello Yukon, a mille metri di altitu- dine, dove ad assistere al nuovo attacco delle multinazionali del settore estrattivo al magnifi- co paesaggio del Grande Nord restano poco più di dieci residenti. Fra progetti di nuove miniere,accampamenti e cave, c‘è ancora chi cerca nell‘isolamento lo spirito rustico e selvaggio di Keno City, chiedendosi se e quanto potrà durare.I registi hanno vissuto per tre mesi la quotidianitàdel paese, senza acqua corrente, ma con l’accessoa internet, cercando di capire le potenzialità del presente e le prospettive del futuro, tra miti da ri- vedere e convinzioni su cui tornare.
The resistance of a tiny mountain village to the threat posed by multinational mining companies
It is winter in the Yukon at one thousand metres of alti- tude and a handful of residents are the only remaining witnesses to the onslaught of extractive industries onthe magnificent surroundings of the High North. In spite of projects for new mines, dormer towns and quarries,some still come to this isolated place in search of thewild and rustic spirit of Keno City while wondering how long this will last.
The directors of this film immersed themselves in villagelife for three months, with access to the internet but norunning water. Their desire was to understand the poten- tial of the present and consider the future prospects of the place, revisiting old myths and setting aside all con-victions.

Paola Rosà è giornalista e traduttrice. Antonio Sentersi occupa di design e video. Insieme hanno realizzato documentari girati soprattutto in Canada e Stati Uniti,dedicati alla “resistenza” nelle sue diverse declinazioni.Tra i loro documentari Il richiamo del Klondike (2010), Il viaggio di Gilbert (2014), The Mushroom Rush (2015),Upstream (2016) e Nativi contro Big Fish (2017).
Paola Rosà is a journalist and translator. Antonio Senter works in design and video. The documentaries they film together are mostly set in Canada and the United States and examine the spirit of “resistance” in all its forms. Among their documentary films are Il Richiamo del Klon- dike (2010), Il viaggio di Gilbert (2014), The Mushroom Rush (2015), Upstream (2016) and Nativi contro Big Fish(2017).
