A Tunnel

di Nino Orjonikidze, Vano Arsenishvil (Georgia, 2019, 93’)
GRAND PRIX TRENTO FILM FESTIVAL 2020 | Young Onion Award – Makedocs

The construction of a railway tunnel across the Silk Road between Georgia and China throws the lives of nearby inhabitants of an isolated mountain top village into disarray. Language and communication problems arise between Georgian and Chinese rail workers and angry stand offs result in a tense strike. The splendid, peaceful landscape bears witness to this sur- real atmosphere – one of the consequences of a troubled world order in transition.

Nino Orjonikidze is a producer and director from Georgia. He has worked as reporter for the television company Rustavi 2 after which he dedicated himself to making documentaries and television programmes.
