Is it possible to climb the hardest route on Mount Everest in Alpine style? Sir Chris Bonington, the most famous British climber, named this route “The Hard Way” and called it impossible. It became something of a personal challenge for four Slovak climbers. In 1988 they started out on their hardest way with no chance of escape.

Pavol Barabáš is the author of mountain-oriented and adventure films about human survival in extreme conditions, all shot in areas of inaccessi- ble wilderness, far from from civilization. In 2011 he received the prestigious Grand Prize from the International Alliance for Mountain Film in recognition of the important role of his work in the evolution of mountain film into the prominent genre that it is today.
