Old stereotypes and development models of the past threaten the Alps. On the one hand the myth of the unspoiled mountain generating beauty persists, on the other new ski lifts, large-scale works and land consumption are the same ingredients as in the past of a tourism that does not come to terms with climate warming. Giving the Alps a future requires a change of perspective, a new, conscious and respectful look.

Marco Albino Ferrari is one of the most influential voices in mountain culture. In the 1990s he edited the magazine "Alp". In 2002 he conceived "Meridiani Montagne," which he directed for years. He has collaborated with La Stampa and other newspapers. He has curated exhibitions, museum layouts and book series. With Einaudi he published “In viaggio sulle Alpi” (2009), edited the anthology “Racconti di pareti e scalatori" (2011) and in 2023 “Assalto alle Alpi”.
