24 years ago, Cervino CineMountain sprung to life between Valtournenche and Breuil Cervinia. This region is the birthplace of mountaineering and some of the greatest names and most exceptional feats of climbing make up its history. This is the home of “Europe’s most noble rock” as Mount Cervino was once called, a peak that is both stage for and protagonist of the festival and mountain par excellence.
The Cervino CineMountain festival takes place in a valley where you can also enjoy a relaxing or activity-based stay, both young and old are drawn to this welcoming place with its expanses of breathtaking views.
Up in Breuil-Cervinia you can ski all summer long on the 3,500 mt high Plateau Rosa glacier which is part of Europe’s largest skiing area and walking enthusiasts can enjoy a network of over 200 km of trekking routes which range in difficulty from high altitude trekking routes to family trails.
The Bike Park del Cervino offers a network of trails dedicated to mountain bikers, it is over 100 km long with thrilling inclines, jumps, bermed flow trails, technical singletrack and wall rides. This area has many other exciting outdoors activities to offer such as paragliding, free climbing or mountain climbing accompanied by one of the Cervino mountain guides on equipped routes or via ferrate. If you are into sports fishing, horseback riding or a round of golf on the stunning 18 hole golf course (the highest in Italy) or if you want to train or work out in Valtournenche’s large indoor sports centre – it’s all here.
Just off the winding road from Valtournenche to Breuil-Cervinia lies hidden one of the valley’s most enchanting places, the Lac Bleu or Blue Lake. This crystal-clear body of water mirrors the reflection of Mount Cervino’s peak so this is an ideal place for a picnic or just quiet rest beneath the trees.
The centre of Breuil-Cervinia is at the heart of the local shopping experience and as you stroll down the long Via Carrel you will find eateries offering traditional dishes or window displays and stores with high end brands.
