La Cima di Entrelor, che dà il titolo al libroscritto da Renato Chabod nel 1969, è nel contempo una montagna reale dell’orografiadella Valsavarenche e una montagna sim-bolo dell’alpinismo come metafora della vita.Su questo doppio registro Chabod sviluppa la narrazione delle vicende alpinistiche dicui è stato uno dei maggiori protagonisti negli Anni ‘30 e ‘40. Il resoconto delle imprese illustra il raggiungimento di mete che in quel periodo costituirono i maggiori problemi alpinistici delle Alpi, in un ambiente d’al- ta montagna ancora tutto da esplorare ove l’avventura costituiva una delle motivazioni principali.
The summit of Entrelor, which lends its name to Renato Chabod’s 1969 book, dominates the topography of Val- savarenche but on a wider scale it has become a symbol in the world of mountaineering for a sort of metaphor forlife. We find these parallels in Chabod’s book on alpine climbing of which the author was a leading protagonist inthe ‘30s and ‘40s. The book provides a study of some of the most amazing ascents which were undertaken at atime when they represented some of the most impossible challenges in the Alps; times when high-altitude mountains were still unexplored terrain and where adventure was the principle motivation.
