The return of an animal throws into disorder many villages of the Alps. While researchers and park rangers track it to study its spread and behav- ior, shepherds organize themselves to face it and the residents are divided over its presence. Very few have seen it, but everyone is talking about: it’s the wolf, extinct in the mountains since the beginning of ‘900, animal in- vested of symbolic meanings par excellence.
