Nella forma di docu-drama di animazione in un’incessante mescolanza di stii e tecniche, il racconto della vita di Adam Jacek Winker attraversa mezzo secolo di storia: polacco rifugiato a Parigi negli anni ‘60, la sua vita avventurosa cambia radicalmente durante gli anni ’80 quando Ja- cek lascia la Francia per combattere i sovietici sulle montagne dell’Af- ghanistan al fianco del comandante Massoud.

An animated docudrama as told through a restless boil of styles and tech- niques, The Magic Mountain is the true story of Adam Jacek Winkler, a Pol- ish refugee who fled to Paris in the 1960s, Winkler’s adventurous life takes a radical turn in the 1980s as he leaves France to fight alongside Com- mander Massoud against the Soviets in the far off Afghani mountainside.

Anca Damian è diplomata all’Academy of Theatre and Film Arts di Bucharest. Il suo pri- mo film, “Crossing Dates” (2008), ha partecipato a numerosi festival tra cui Pusan Fim Festival, Chicago, Goteborg, Cottbus, Goa e Roma. Il secondo film, “Crulic – The Path do Beyond” (2011) ha partecipato a più di 150 festival e ha ricevuto il Cristal Award ad Annecy e oltre 35 premi in altri festival. “A Very Unsettled Summer” (2013) una coproduzione tra Romania, Repubblica Ceca, Svezia e UK ha ricevuto tre premi in occasione dei Romanian Filmmakers’ Union annual Awards. “The Magic Mountain”, docu-drama di animazione, è il suo quarto film.

Anca Damian studied at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Bucharest. Her first fea- ture film as a director – “Crossing dates” (2008) – participated in numerous film festival competitions such as Pusan Film Festival, Chicago, Goteborg, Cottbus, Goa and Rome. Her second “Crulic – The Path to Beyond” (2011) participated in more that 150 festival selections. The movie also received the Cristal Award in Annecy, and more than 35 priz- es at other notable film festivals. Her third feature “A Very Unsettled Summer” (2013), a Romanian- Czech-Swedish-UK coproduction, received three prizes from at the Romanian Filmmakers’ Union annual Awards. “The Magic Mountain” a docu-drama animation is her 4th feature film.
